Minespider is proud to have been chosen to pitch with Unearthed Solutions at Mining Indaba in Cape Town, on February 7th at Midday. If you are attending be sure to come and see Nathan Williams tell all about how blockchain can enable responsible mineral sourcing.
We’re excited to announce the 5 international startups that will be pitching at Mining Indaba, LLC: Minespider,…
Earlier this month Minespider was honoured to win the Talent Unleashed Award global prize for Best Idea, one to watch from the EMEA region. It was an amazing experience to attend the award ceremony at the Museum of London. We now have a few photos of the evening courtesy of the event organizers. To see the full album you can visit
Minespider is honoured to have been interviewed by Wired Germany about blockchain and how we are using it to address responsible mineral sourcing.
Conflict minerals are a hot topic and Blockchain has the potential to make a real impact, both for downstream users who need to demonstrate their material is responsibly sourced, and for the upstream suppliers, making sure the poorest miners aren’t bearing the majority of the costs.
On Nov 27, Minespider CEO Nathan Williams spoke on a panel in Brussels Belgium to a crowd of 30 industry titans on the issue of conflict minerals and how blockchain technology can overcome some of the unintended consequences of other due diligence methods.
The event was organized by Cambre Associates with the aim of improving understanding of the new conflict minerals legislation in Europe and start the conversation about how implementation should be handled. Also appearing on the panel were other prominent figures to speak on the subject:
Michal Spiechowicz, Policy Officer Raw Materials and Resources Efficiency, DG GROW
Dr. Egbert Lox, Senior Vice President Government Affairs, Umicore & Honorary Professor at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
Sylvie Feindt, Director Sustainability Policy, DIGITALEUROPE
Marten Westrup, Coordinator Energy and Raw Materials, DG TRADE
This event represents a positive step in the dialogue of how the conflict minerals legislative framework should be implemented and we are very glad that Nathan was able to be part of the conversation.
We are very excited to announce that Minespider has been named the global winner of the Talent Unleashed Awards in the Best Idea, One to Watch category.
This very prestigious award was judged by a panel that included Steve Wozniak and Richard Branson.
This means that this Spring, our founder Nathan Williams will travel to Silicon Valley to meet Steve Wozniak in person. Given that Woz had recently talked in Las Vegas about tracking conflict-free minerals using blockchain, we expect it to be a very positive meeting.
On Friday Dec 8, 2017 during a trip to London, Minespider founder Nathan Williams was featured on CNBC’s Squawk Box with Karen Tso and Steve Sedgwick as a cryptocurrency commentator.
They discussed how Minespider aims to use crypto tokens to certify responsibly sourced minerals, how the recent excitement over Bitcoin is driving attention to crypto projects overall, and the factors contributing to the recent spike in bitcoin price.
Minespider is proud to be joining the conflict minerals discussion in Brussels on the 28th of November.
Nathan Williams will join representatives from Umicore, DG Grow, and DigitalEurope for an hour and a half panel discussion on conflict mineral legislation, the challenges posed, and solutions to explore.
The event is a free event hosted by Cambre Associates. Space is limited but you can register at the following link:
