Glossary term

battery labeling requirements

The information, symbols and QR code that covered batteries must carry at the applicable dates.

What does battery labeling requirements mean?

Battery labels help identify the battery and communicate information required by Article 13 and Annex VI. General and capacity labels have act-dependent start rules, while the separate-collection symbol follows its own schedule. From 18 February 2027 all batteries must carry a QR code; only the specified EV, LMT and industrial batteries above 2 kWh link it to a battery passport.

Minespider working definition

Battery labeling requirements are the category- and date-specific rules for physical labels, symbols and QR access on batteries.

Common boundary mistakes

A QR code is a route to information, not the passport itself.

Source context

Battery Regulation Article 13 and Annex VI set several distinct label, symbol and QR-code rules. Article 13(6) gives the QR-code duty, while only specified categories link through to a passport.

Definition status

Source-grounded explanatory term, not a formal definition in the cited provisions. Source context is paraphrased, not quoted legal text.

Practical application

Track label type, product category, implementing-act trigger, effective date, artwork version and QR destination separately.

Minespider commentary

Our label workflow needs category and date checks alongside proof that the QR code resolves to the right record.

Common confusions

  • The QR code is not the passport. It is the data carrier that resolves to the passport record.
