Glossary term

battery passport data attributes

The information fields a battery passport carries, with access depending on the data and the viewer.

What does battery passport data attributes mean?

Battery passport data attributes are the fields used to describe a battery model and an individual battery. Annex XIII sets out the required information in four sections, with different access for the public, people with a legitimate interest, and authorities or notified bodies. This is a useful name for those fields, not a defined term in the regulation.

Minespider working definition

A battery passport data attribute is a named field in the model- or battery-level record, assigned to a source, update owner and access audience.

Common boundary mistakes

A field's presence in a passport does not make it public.

Source context

Battery Regulation Article 77(2) allocates passport information to different access audiences; Annex XIII lists model and individual-battery information across four sections.

Definition status

Source-grounded explanatory term, not a formal definition in the cited provisions. Source context is paraphrased, not quoted legal text.

Practical application

Map every proposed field to its Annex XIII section, owner, source, update rule and access audience.

Minespider commentary

Our field model should record each attribute’s owner, update event and permitted audience before it is exposed through a passport.

Common confusions

  • Not all passport data is public. Detailed composition, dismantling information and dynamic battery data are restricted, and test reports are visible only to authorities.
