Glossary term

EU declaration of conformity

The manufacturer's formal declaration that a battery meets the specified EU battery requirements.

What does EU declaration of conformity mean?

The manufacturer draws up an EU declaration of conformity after the applicable conformity-assessment procedure and assumes responsibility for the battery's compliance with the requirements identified in Article 18. The declaration follows Annex IX and must be kept up to date. It is the manufacturer's statement, even where a notified body participates in assessment.

Minespider working definition

Common confusions

  • The declaration is not issued by a third party. It is the manufacturer's own statement, even when a notified body took part in conformity assessment.
