What does refill mean?

Refill is an operation, not simply a reusable-container claim. It needs a container, a packaging function, a final-distributor sales context, and a filling event tied to products bought by the end user.

Practical application

Implementation records should capture the container identifier or type, packaging function, final distributor, point-of-sale context, product filled, end-user participation, fill event timestamp, and links to refill-station or re-use-system records where applicable.

Minespider commentary

For Minespider, refill should create an event record: who filled what container, with which product, under which final-distributor context. That keeps refill evidence separate from broad reuse, collection, or recycling claims.

Common confusions

  • Treating refill as any bulk sale without a packaging-function container.
  • Collapsing refill into re-use system evidence.
  • Assuming refill proves lower environmental impact without supporting data.
