What does due diligence statement mean?
Under the EUDR's ordinary operator pathway, a due diligence statement records the product and production information and the conclusion that due diligence found no or only negligible risk. It includes production-country and plot-geolocation information. Micro or small primary operators can instead follow a separate simplified-declaration pathway under Article 4a.
Minespider working definition
A due diligence statement is the EUDR submission for the relevant ordinary operator route; qualifying small primary operators have a distinct simplified pathway.
Common boundary mistakes
Not every actor files the same statement; check staged application.
Source context
EUDR Article 4 and Annex II govern the ordinary operator due-diligence statement. Article 4a provides a separate simplified-declaration pathway for micro and small primary operators.
Definition status
Source-grounded explanatory term, not a formal definition in the cited provisions. Source context is paraphrased, not quoted legal text.
Practical application
Link the submitted statement to product, operator, production country, plots, risk conclusion and reporting route.
Minespider commentary
Distinguish the ordinary statement route from the simplified declaration pathway for qualifying primary operators.
Common confusions
- EUDR requires due diligence and geolocation data. It does not require a Digital Product Passport.
